Instructor：Soshin Tanaka (Omotesenke School Instructor)
Ms. Tanaka started to learn tea ceremony when she was teenager. She recognized the greatness of Japanese culture while she had lived in the US. Then she decided to open the class to teach the appeal of tea ceremony to non-Japanese. She came back to Japan in March, 2007 and started to teach tea ceremony in English.

Lesson 1 What is tea ceremony? The etiquette of host/hostess and guest
You will learn the history and the element of tea ceremony since Rikyu Sen, the tea gathering, and the etiquette of host/hostess and guest.
Lesson 2 the manner of guest
practice : how to eat sweet and drink thin and thick tea
You will drink thin and thick tea after you learn the difference. You will also learn the manner of drinking tea and eating sweet.
Lesson 3 the host/hostess role
Practice : how to handle Fukusa and Chasen
You will learn how to handle Fukusa and Chasen that is important to make teas.
Lesson 4 What is Ryaku-demae?
Practice : Ryaku-demae
You will practice Ryaku-demae (basic and informal version of making teas) after the instructor explain Ryaku-demae.
Lesson 5 Revies
Practice : Ryaku-demae & guestﾕs manner
After reviewing, the class will be divided into two group, host/hostess and guests. Then you will do the small tea gathering using Ryaku-demae.
